Fun Scales for Flamenco guitar

Postby Manos Lentas » 30 Nov 2009, 19:03

Here is a scale practice using octaves first played as doubles and next as arpeggios. Note on the tab (showing arpeggio only) that the D note on the 2nd string 3rd fret is played using the little or 4th finger on the left hand. This is very important to keep proper hand position.

Fun Scales for Flamenco guitar

Postby Manos Lentas » 05 Jan 2010, 17:43

Here are 3 basic scales that are used in flamenco. I use these for warm up.

--2-0------------------------------1-0----------------------------1-0-----------------------------
-------3-2-0---------------------------3-1-0-2-1----------------------3-1------------------------
--------------2-1----------------------------------3-2-0---------------------3-2-0----------------
-------------------4-2-0---------------------------------3-2-0----------------------3-2-0---------
--------------------------4-2-0--------------------------------------------------------------3-1-0-
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 1st scale is useful with A and E7 chords and good for Alegrias.
The 2nd is great with Am and E7 chords and nice for Farruca.
The 3rd is nice with A and Bd and useful in Bulerias.

Hope someone finds these useful.

The first exercise is really good - makes you think as you play
