Cante technique

Postby el frances » 02 Feb 2010, 01:05

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if any of you guys had a clue as to books or methods to discover, if not learn, techniques of the cante. I have found this on the web
http://esflamenco.com/product/en39073027.html

but I'm not sure whether I can get something concrete form it.
Someone with further information about that, please share your knowledge :D
Thanx!

I am not sure what you are looking for. Do you want to learn accompaniment or actually sing? I recently inquired of a well known flamenco singer guitarist how to learn accompaniment and understand more about how to work with a singer and they said the only way to learn it was by attending juerga's and having someone to help you understand what was happening. They said there was no way to teach it, it was something that comes to you from listening and watching. No videos or books can give you this knowledge. I was hoping for a video since I am in a flamenco desert and cannot do much travel. Best suggestion I got was to watch all the old videos of great singers you can find on utube. If you want to learn accompaniment guitarist like Perico del Lunar, Melchor de Marchena, 70's Paco Cepero, and Diego del Gastor are great to get ideas from.
