Re: CD como solista cantando flamenco

My ears are not too good today with extreme hyperacusis especially in the right, so I may not be hearing pitch right, but for the Siguiriyas that Bob posted I am thinking cejilla 4th fret using A and Bb. Lots of hand pain today also, so not able to play long. Interested in hearing others opinions on the key to accompany this Siguiriyas.

Fourth-fret por medio sounds good to me playing very softly while listening to the recording with headphones so I won't disturb my wife who is recovering from the flu.

Hola Sam
I know that Oscar Herrero has a DVD series of how to play flamenco guitar and I am not sure but I think he includes some classes about how to accompany cante.
I have not watched it and so I do not know exactly what he does but I guess it is possible that he might have a section with cante without guitar for people to try themselves.

Saludos

As has been pointed out, a lot of LPs were recorded in stereo, with vocals coming out one speaker and guitar out the other. If you turn the "balance" knob on your amp all the way to the "vocal speaker" you will hear mostly vocal out of that. What you can then try is to put a mike near that speaker and record onto a tape. You will probably get almost pure cante that way, that you can then play back on tape and accompany. It's worth trying.
