UNESCO have woken up to the wonders of flamenco. Not a long article but a good read all the same.

But I cannot decide if this is a good thing or not.
Big powerful people who control the arts etc. get involved in flamenco and it has not always been a good result.
This may lead to an excuse for promotion for flamenco artists who the arts politicians think are good and I am not sure if I would share thier opinions.
I wonder what others think.

I think the time to worry is when politicians decide that flamenco needs "protecting" to preserve it for future generations. Then it'll end up stagnating, like native Americans on Reservations.
