Hello from Brazil! I have read all the posts, and do not feel so bad that I own several guitars (not all flamenco--three are!)
My first instrument was so antique that it appeared to be about 1820- 1830, with pegs and a fretboard that stopped at the body. No picture available, flamed maple and spruce. I cannot find another in any reference book. I travelled a lot and bought guitars in different countries, but much later in Canada, my first flamenco, Raimundo 145F 1994: not bad but certainly not a great flamenco. Three times I was offered Ramírez guitars but had no money! The next time I saw a Ramírez Flamenco 1ª, cedar/cypress with pegs, I bought it and though beat-up and maltreated since 1969, it is my best, built by I.M.=Ignacio Manzano Rozas, now a famous luthier. I recently bought a new Pedro de Miguel on eBay, but although well-made, it has not got the real flamenco tone, but would be OK for accompanying dance. A Brazilian luthier made me a "copy" of the Ramírez 1ª from drawings, and it is a fine instrument with cedar and Brazilian, but cannot be considered a flamenco guitar--he did not know the internal details, set-up etc. I am not in the market for any more guitars! I am not going to take my best 1ª to be repaired or refinished because it sounds great as is! I will post a photo soon and send a sound bite.
