La Bella Black nylon flamenco trebles

Postby Prominent Critic » 28 Feb 2011, 05:32

What's the difference between La Bella black nylon trebles 2001 and 820B? And are these rectified nylon? Anyone who has played both prefer one to the other?

Ramon, I cannot tell you the chemical difference, but I can tell you I prefer the 820B trebles hands down over any other treble I have ever used for playing flamenco. This applies to my 74 Brazil rosewood and redwood, Tsiorba 2010 maple and spruce, former guitars Andres Dominguez cypress and spruce, Victor Diaz cypress and spruce, Pimentel cypress and spruce, and others I have forgot. The 820B trebles medium gauge play easier, sound brighter, and last longer than the 2001's in medium gauge. It seems to takes longer to get the 820 to hold tune over the 2001, but when they do they hold it better than the 2001. I always use the D Addario j45 basses in medium with the 820B trebles on all guitars and like the sound, playability, and length of last best over any other brand or combination. There is a difference in the 820B and 2001, but which you like is a personal preference. I went through a dozen treble sets of the 2001 and over 6 dozen of the 820B's in the last 8 years. I like the black 820 over the red also in every way.

Hello,

The only thing I would like to ad to the previous comment is that in the past couple of months, 2 times I've had the high e-string of the Labella 2001 series be out of intonation. One set was bought in Michigan and the other in Florida so this seems to be a quality control issue. Both sets of strings though sound good and are inexpensive.
