RIP Enrique de Melchor

Many will remember him for his recent playing, but I will always remember this solea.

Very sad news.

I met him some years ago and he was very nice and let me play two of his Conde, blond and black so we could discuss what we thought about them.
I thought he was a very simple straightforward man with a good disposition.

I remember his early playing very well.
He played with Paco de Lucía on some records and people used to say: who accompanied who?
RIP Enrique.

Another great master of the Flamenco guitar who passed away much too early! I first heard of Enrique de Melchor when listening to a record, where he and his father took turns accompanying Antonio Mairena on various soleas and siguiriyas. I used to listen to this record again and again to learn the compas and understand the relationship between toque and cante. Below is an example of him accompanying an inspired Mairena por solea including his signature intro.

Enrique de Melchor - Thank you and may you rest in peace!

If only God took some days of our life and gave them to Enrique de Melchor, humanity would be much richer from the spiritual point of view...
