Flamenco guitars by Pablo Requena
Pablo Requena is a guitarrero from Malaga who is at this time living in England in Lewes in Sussex.
Certain things are immediately obvious about guitars by Requena:
Exceptionally comfortable neck.
For the right hand the strings are always in the right place. You can play the strings as hard as you lime but they will always return to their place and be ready for the next thing you do.
The action feels very low although in fact it is not as low as some guitars. Hence the strings in the left hand feel very easy to hold but you get no buzzing of strings on frets.
I like also that for the right hand the strings are close enough to the guitar face without being too close. I do not like strings too far away from the face of the guitar but not to the other extreme either.
The guitar is very light, it weighs very little and the neck weighs little too which means you can hold it with a minimum of effort.
About sound
The flamenco guitar of Requena is low and deep. The base is very low and aggressive, the top strings and notes are very sharp which I like but they are not thin or lacking character. They can sound sweet if you want and sustain for as long as you want.
The sound is a mixture of aggressive percussive and yet as we say in Spanish ‘muy simpática’
