Downloading YouTube Video Files

Postby admin » 07 Aug 2008, 12:11

Someone sent a PM asking how to download video files from YouTube. I decided to post my answer here for others with the same question. Video files from YouTube and most other public video upload sites can be downloaded a variety of ways. A simple method that works well for those using a recent version of the Firefox web browser is given below.

1) Select Tools/Add-ons from the Firefox menu. An Add-on dialog box will display.

2) Click "Get Extensions" in the lower-right corner of the Add-ons dialog box.

3) Type "Fast Video Download" in the search window of the web page that displays and press Enter.

4) Click the "Add to Firefox" button to the right of "Fast Video Download" to install that extension module.

5) Go to YouTube (or most any other video site) and display a video player for a file you want to download.

6) There will be a small icon that has a yellow arrow pointing down to the left in the extreme bottom right-hand corner of the Firefox web browser. Click that icon to download the video file.

Thanks Bob.

I've always wondered how to do that. if anyone has "bitcomet," you can download basically any video through it. you just right click anywhere on the page besides the actual video, go to download media files, then just click on the name of whatever it is you're downloading.

i'll be getting rid of bitcomet soon so bob's method will come in handy.

you can get so much free stuff on the internet. it almost makes me feel guilty... almost.

Any Video Converter Free Version
This is a legitimate free download with no time-outs etc.
It's incredibly easy to use. For you tube videos, all you have to do is put in the address then click Convert (it has a default setting but you can select pretty well any size or format you want).

I've been using it for a couple of days now to convert dance practice videos from my camcorder (mp2) onto my new toy (mp4), a Sony Walkman with bluetooth. Love it. I tested the You Tube function and it's great.

That is a slick program. I had never heard of it before. It is quick to download and install. It doesn't seem to contain malware. It is very easy to use. I haven't used it much, but in a couple tests it performed as advertised. Thanks for letting us know about it.
