Members who regularly post to the forum are welcome to promote their own performances. I only wish I could attend.

This is great Tomas and perhaps Nigel will attend and give us a review. Better yet if it could be videoed and put on DVD and we could purchase the DVD and enjoy. The first time I watched a video of your playing, I was impressed with the different special sound you had yet retaining the old school all flamenco sound. The castanet's add a nice accompaniment and something live and real, not electronic and jazzy sounding. Best wishes on a good attendance and wish I could attend. Sam

Tomas

It is a fair old journey for me but it may not be impossible and I would love to be there. I think it says 8 pm start but do you have any idea when it will end? I would need to leg it with pilar to the train to get back to Basingstoke.

One advantage I used to go to college in St Albans so I know it well. Sadly I think Abbey if I remember right is a little way from the station.

Sam if I get there a write up you shall have :D

Hola Sam,

It would be great if one day I could go to the USA and give some concerts.

Yes, I would love if the concert could be filmed in video or DVD but that is incredibly expensive here in UK and I suppose it must be in most places. If I find a way to do it I will do.

Yes I do like castanets and I like flamenco being something not only solo guitar although that is fine too sometimes. Palillos are nice for some pieces and for me at least I feel them closer to Andalucía than for example amplified electronic sound as indeed you mention.

For me an essential part of flamenco has always been in addition to the notes that one plays the sort of sound that one makes with the guitar and the type of guitar. Very difficult to describe but I think we know what we mean: that old andaluz sound!

Saludos

Hola Nigel,

If you find that you can make it that would be great. I would offer to give you a lift back to Basingstoke but my problem is that we have a child minder and we have to get her back to her home late at night and my car is quite small and full of guitars and flamenco dresses for María José.
I think the concert will end at about 10.00pm.

If you do decide to write a review the only thing I can hope is that you right a review that includes all the things that you do not like so much or that you observe need improvement.

No flamenco guitarist can expect that all pieces will be equally enjoyed and so I am always interested to hear about those things which are not giving so much pleasure so that I can be aware of that when I plan a program.

I am never sure what I will play until the moment but here is a list of pieces and I probably with play most of them:

Concert Abbey Theatre

Plaza del Potro/Alegrías de Córdoba (Paco Peña)
Rondeña (Ramón Montoya)
Farruca en Re/ Los Caireles (Sabicas)
Canciones Folklóricas Andaluzas
Mantilla de Feria (Esteban de Sanlucar)
Mantilla y Peine (Paco Peña)
Zapateado en Re (Sabicas)

Granaína, Siguiriyas, Soleares, Alegrías, Bulerías, Colombiana, Guajira, Farruca, Sevillanas, Zambra Mora

If you do not get there I do hope maybe that I will give a concert near your area one day.

Saludos

That's not very far from where I live. I will try to get there.

Hola Alan,

That would be great. If you do make it would be good to say hello.
I guess either ask for backstage or we will just come through to the front after the concert.

Saludos
