Ole ecwriter! Your playing was perfect for the occasion. I could feel the compas and emotion and it is not only appropriate emotionally, but technically well done. To me this is the real bare roots flamenco. After all this is how flamenco was developed by the gypsies. It was about life experiences and feelings. It all started with cante and when solo guitar became popular and the only flamenco known to many, emotion was lost over technique. To express emotion for a event using solo guitar is difficult. Well done! hope to hear you post more.

Thanks for the encouragement. This was my first audio post. The occasion demanded I step up. For me turning on the microphone or just having someone within hearing range makes a big difference in my playing. My errors multiply exponentially. Some times on rare occasions when I play (and I mean very rare) I get into a place where it's as if someone else is playing and I am just listening, taking the piece where ever I feel without thinking. When it ends I say to myself with some surprise "that was good". I can't do that on command and certainly not when recording. Perhaps that's duende.

This is such sad news.
Of course I never knew him but read his ideas with interest.
We will all die one day but alone at the computer is no one’s choice.
Let us hope that he perceived something wonderful on the computer which provoked the heart attack.
Maybe he was listening to an explosive Alegrías, so I will try to think of that.

I am very saddened to learn of Jay's passing the other day. We were friends on Facebook, I hadn't heard from him in some time and decided to see if he'd been active at all....and that is where I found out he'd passed away.
Jay was the first person to guide me when I was beginning flamenco guitar. He had the best advice, connected me with La Fernanda, Juan del Gastor, his friends in Sevilla, Madrid...and loaned me countless recordings (which I was happy to reciprocate with my personal recording from festivals in Spain). Years later I ended up living in Spain.
A tireless afficionado of Flamenco he will be sorely missed. Amigo Jacinto, dales un saludo de mi parte a La Fernanda y Diego. Tomaré un fino la próxima vez que pasara a la peña pensando en la sonrisa tuya al oir algo jondo...algo con duende.
