Be sure the audio file name extension is in lowercase (.mp3), rather than uppercase (.MP3), characters. Some audio recorders use uppercase characters for file names, but uppercase names are not suitable for use on the Internet. Some computer systems are case-sensitive and others are not, so to insure compatibility internet-wide, lowercase has been become the standard.
The forum upload software will accept audio files that have uppercase characters in the main parts of their names, but not in the name extension. That is because uploaded files are renamed internally for security reasons, but name extensions are not renamed. In principle the system functions something like a card-file index system at a library. Uploaded files are put into storage like books are put on shelves in a library. They are each assigned a unique number and something like an electronic index card is created. When someone wants to download a recording, the software finds the index card containing the requested recording name and then uses the assigned number, rather than the name, to retrieve the file from storage. However, the original file name extension is maintained, because different types of audio files, such as .mp3, .wma, etc, have to be processed differently.
I also didn't know Jay Kantor, but it is obvious from what he wrote that he had long-term involvement with and interest in flamenco. It is sad when someone like that passes on.
