New Year

Postby Ram » 30 Dec 2011, 22:52

I must be getting old, the year just went by so fast. I have lot's to be thankful for. We all are healthy and the daily struggles always seem to work out for the best. I hope that all of you have a great New Year and best wishes to all.

Human perceptions of time can be contradictory. At least mine are. I repeatedly expect to accomplish more each day, month and year than is reasonably possible. Failing to accomplish those ridiculous objectives makes me feel like time is going by fast and I am not getting much done. Even so, I actually accomplish a lot. If I think back over all the things accomplished during previous time periods I am surprised by the amount accomplished. Those contradictory perspectives result in time seeming to simultaneously go by very slow and very fast, depending on whether I focus on what I did or did not accomplish. From one perspective, this past year went by extremely fast. From the other, so many things happened this past year that last New Year's Eve seems like a long time ago.

I hope you all had a good year and that next year will be even better.

Happy New Year Sam, Tomas, Bob, .....et al :D Long time not here but good to see you all playing.

Am spending Xmas and New Year in Madrid. Great time with my Spanish family. Had a lesson with a gitano Ricardo in old Madrid near 'Latina' and we covered some Alegrias and Farruca. I'll see him again on Wednesday to extend my limited Sevillanas (the family is largely from Seville so has to be done) and explore a few more major chord combo's for my escobilla. Hopefully this year I can really get down to it having a bit more time.

Sadly the New Year in Spain looks although it will be very hard for all but the crooks and rich. Unemployment and home repossession are very very obvious. But who knows a revolution (peaceful hopefully) with the return of the peseta could turn things around - forever the optimist ;) .

As for me my unemployed step daughter has just qualified as a diving instructor so she will go back to the Canaries to look for work. That means more diving for me which is not too good for the nails.

But wherever and whatever have the best 2012 with lots of flamenco :D
