Sam, Thank you. I also like your version of falsetas 12, 13, and 14. A wonderful thing about flamenco is that it allows, even demands, highly personal expression.

Falsetas 13 and 14 modified

Postby Flamencoblues » 04 May 2011, 01:39

Browsing through Norman Klimans's site, I found out that falseta 13 has been repeatedly modified by famous artists such as Sabicas and Paco de Lucia. Paco breaks up the alignment of the triplet motif with the compas by playing it in sixteenth. For fun, I am posting a modified version of falsetas 13 and 14. Falseta 13 is essentially Paco's version. For falseta 14, I am also playing sixteenth rather than triplets and replacing the original alzapua over the F chord with a more syncopated version.
Cheers
Roland

Ramon, Ole! I enjoyed hearing your playing of these variations. I think these versions fit your style perfectly and both went with your intro nicely. Really like the phrasing on #14. Norman has a page on the evolution of a falseta that is very interesting. I think maybe later today if time and my hands allow, start a thread with a very basic common Soleares falseta and some variations and hopefully others will add to it following the basic single note melody established. It will be interesting to see different styles and how advanced it can be taken by our members. Hopefully this thread will also continue as it is a most valuable learning tool on improvising and Norman site is a gold mine of tab and music notation for ideas.
