Solea Falseta Evolution Challenge

Postby SamC » 04 May 2011, 18:21

Just for fun! All members are invited and encouraged to post their variations on this very basic Soleares falseta. The possibilities are endless and it will be fun to see others improvisations on this basic melody. Don't worry if your playing isn't perfect. Make it simple or complicated.

Roland, I like the flow and feel of that variation. You get a smooth yet very melodic sound. Expresses the Solea very well. Here is a very basic technique Solea I put together for one of my Granddaughters based on this melody.

Sam,
Your example is a beautiful little solea and a nice study in compas. :) I am sure your granddaughter appreciates it.
The falseta I attached below is another melodic variation of the basic motif, with a pretty sophisticated rhythmic approach though(admittedly not exactly old-style, but definitely traditional).
- Roland
P.S. I also hope others will contribute their ideas!

Hi Everybody,

Here's an arpeggio version of the basic falseta, all sixteenth note forward arpeggios. Pretty familiar territory but what the hell. I've never recorded or made videos so I just uploaded the cifra. Making the cifra was difficult, everything was done with free programs. TuxGuitar was used to write the notes and Primo PDF was used to convert into PDF format. It took about an hour just to create this small file, learning how to use the programs, etc.. In the future it'll be mush easier as I know what to do now. This technology stuff is giving me a headache!

Dan,
Great classic example! I like how you place the arpeggios to mark the compas!
My understanding of technology is essentially limited to recording videos with a simple webcam and uploading them on youtube, which (including 12 seconds of recording your falseta - hope you don't mind) took considerably less time than it took you writing it in TuxGuitar (for which I probably would need to go back to school ). I thought it might be nice to have both the Pdf and an acoustic sample; hope I played it as you intended.
