Hello from Hackney

Postby Brendan » 21 Jan 2012, 23:26

I live in Hackney (London, UK) and have been playing guitar for almost 35 years, though it doesn't show. I have failed to master most styles of guitar and now I fail to master flamenco almost exclusively, except for some bossa and samba, and occasional forays into jazz. It's the chords. I like the rhythms, the cante, the dancing, the whole works but it's the flamenco chords that keep me at it. Lovely.

I've played for dance classes quite a bit and done a couple of performances accompanying a dancer. I do a bit of web work for the Peña Flamenca de Londres. I've lately had a go a the cajón, to round out my understanding of compás, and to give me an option at jams when someone else has the guitar.

Hola y Bienvenido

Let me know when you are doing something public and I will try to go to see you.

Have you failed or are you still working on succeeding?

Many of us here are working towards our own personal success and over time that success shows.

I look forward to your contributions.

Saludos cordiales

I suspect that few professional musicians ever honestly feel that they have totally "mastered" any style of music. They may feel they have become relatively good at it, but someone who thinks there is no possibility for improvement probably is engaged in self-deception. So, it could be that even though you haven't mastered flamenco, your playing is rather good or that you are even playing at a professional level.

Regardless, welcome the forum. You are among others here who also haven't yet mastered flamenco.

Welcome. Seems like you have a lot to contribute and a good vantage point in a famous company.
