Hello from Montreal

Postby TheTocaor » 22 Jun 2010, 15:58

Hello, I am in Montreal and as you can imagine struggling to learn how to play flamenco. It has been about 12 years now, but my interest goes back to the first time I became aware of flamenco. My father was a classical guitarist who was and still is very much into Spanish culture. Growing up I had a painting of a Spanish guitar in my room, and we had a bullfighter and a flamenco dancer painting in the basement so it has always been there. Thanks to the internet, I was able to find out what to listen to, and what flamenco is.

At the moment I am selling my Raimundo 145 after 10 years or so. I think it is time for something more flamenco! There are so little options in Montreal I am going to buy something from Zavaletas.

I look forward to sharing ideas with you all.

Welcome to the foro, Tocaor.

We're here to share and help. I live in a remote area of the Smokey Mountains and like you, have no live access to Flamenco. This is a good forum to obtain Flamenco information. We're glad you have found us.

Welcome to the foro and you are among several here that have no other contact with other flamencos than on the internet. My great grandpa was from Saint Gregory le Grand, Montreal, south of the city of Montreal. I sent you an email and a PM. Looking forward to your participation on the foro and hearing your playing.

Welcome to the group.

That is a common problem for most of us, as others have indicated. There certainly isn't much flamenco here in Utah and what little there is tends to be modern fusions with other genres rather than pure flamenco.
