Hello from San Francisco (and NYC)

Postby gj Michelob » 30 Oct 2010, 16:49

Good morning everyone, this is gj Michelob posting from SF. I noticed a few familiar and dear names from ForoFlamenco posting here as well. I hope I am not betraying that forum –which I love- by enjoying some of the well written literature I find here.

I play about one hour very day on a German Vazquez Rubio blanca, which Peter Tsiorba has wonderfully fine tuned. ‘Still a beginner amateur, so nothing I can teach anyone (except for sharing the many mistakes I made from choice of strings and guitars, to my misunderstanding of compas and palos).

Hasta Luego

GJ, Good to have you join here. Many of our members participate on several forums and also Facebook. This is more of a low key forum focused more on traditional flamenco and appreciation for those that maybe technically or otherwise challenged. Always enjoy hearing others play regardless of level. Feel free to share your thoughts and interest in flamenco. Peter is a master of setting up a flamenco guitar for ultimate performance. Remember you from the foro and no problem participating in both.

Hi GJ –
Great to see you here also, and welcome to the Foro. I think you will find some interesting posts here that you might not see as often on ForoFlamenco, felt and seen from a somewhat different perspective, which always helps to give someone a more rounded and comprehensive understanding and appreciation of any subject of interest.

Gracias Ramon, that is exactly my aim, a different perspective every now and then. Glad to find you here, as well.

Hola gj Michelob
¡Bienvenido al foro!
I notice with interest that you explain that Peter Tsiorba has “fine tuned” your flamenco guitar and this made me think that it really is worth trying to get as much right as we can.
Of course we do not automatically dramatically increase in our ability to play when everything is the best it can be but it certainly helps.
Manos Lentas for instance is I think having a wonderful time playing with his magnificent Peter Tsiorba guitar.
I hope you enjoy it here and I look forward to reading your contributions.
Saludos cordiales

Thank you, Tomás.

I agree with you. Once you reach a certain level, the instrument will undoubtedly make the difference. However, a skilled luthier who appreciates and accomodates our needs and occasional fastidious whim will open yet a new dimension.

After Peter Tsiorba returned my GVR I felt as if I had acquired a new blanca, and could not put her down. This morning Maria (my Cavalier) woke me up at 2am. I made coffee and played to my heart's content in that rare cold silence the house preserved until 7am.

Thank you Peter!!

Hello GJ! Good to see you here. Recognize you from a couple of other forums. :)

I haven't been here for a while myself, ... and I was here six days after the doors opened.

Hi;
The silence is a bit _too_ cold this morning on the west coast!
