Hi From Texas

Postby Ram » 23 Jun 2010, 03:35

I have been following this forum for several months and thought it was time for me to join this fine group.

My name is Ramiro and I am slowly learning this fine art. Over 40 years ago my father took my sister, younger brother and me to Bellas Artes in our home town to learn to play the guitar. After the first class the "maestro" told my father to bring my sister and youger brother back but not to waste his money on me, that his money would better be spent on soccer or baseball clinics.

Well forty years later I am not playing either sport but have been enjoying my flamenco guitar lessons for the past 2 1/2 years and practicing every day. I know I am not gifted and a very slow learner, my teacher is patient and understanding.
I have made great progress and feel good about the prospect of one day being able to impress my siblings, but my main goal has already been acheived and that is my enjoyment of the guitar and the knowlege that is all about personal satisfaction, challenges and love of the flamenco art.

As I mentioned earlier this forum has been a source of information to me and hope to be a positive contributor as I go along my quest of of learning as much as I can about the art of the flamenco guitar.

Best wishes to all,

Ramiro

Welcome Ramiro,

You are among friends. Many of us are amateurs and beginners, and like you, the "enjoyment of the guitar and the knowlege that it is all about personal satisfaction, challenges and love of the flamenco art", is what it is all about. We're glad you are here.

Hola Ramiro
Great to see you here.
I know what you mean........in the old days adults seemed to be free to say almost anything that wanted to children, or at least in Spain that was the situation......... now of course we have to be careful what we say in case we make them suffer a psychological trauma!!!!!
I am only in jest!
Look forward to seing you on here.
Saludos

Hello and welcome,

I only joined a few days ago and I am hoping to bring more and more people to this forum. I totally agree with what you are saying. The most important thing for me is how the guitar makes me feel when I play. I can strum a chord or try a complex falseta that will fail or succeed but I look for that good feeling of harmony inside when I play above all.
