BBCode syntax for videos?

Postby GuitarVlog » 15 Aug 2008, 13:40

I couldn't find the FAQ for this. Will the video BBCode work for any streaming video? Do I just insert the URL from YouTube?

Yes, just copy the utube url and paste it between the video brackets. Example: [video] url here [video].
If the video has embedding disabled it will show only as a link and not a player.

Many thanks. I may be posting some videos for (*gulp*) critique and suggestions.

Actually, the second closing video tag must include a slash character, like this:

Code: Select all

[video]http://www.youtube.com ... etc .. [/video]

Sorry I left that out. Easiest way is to click on the video tab and just insert url as you show above.

There isn't anything at the FAQ page about videos, because I created that capability with custom add-on software that I wrote. I will post instructions later today.

The custom video code will not create a video player for any video stream, but it will create a video player most of the popular video upload sites. However, new video sites come on-line frequently, because of the great popularity of YouTube. If there is a particular video upload site that has flamenco videos that my code is not compatible with, let me know and I may be able write additional extension code to make videos from that site playable.

You can simply insert a YouTube video URL In most cases. However, in some cases it is necessary to trim extra characters from the end of a URL string. I will explain that in the instructions I post later today.
