Uploading fotos

Postby flyeogh » 13 Feb 2009, 11:27

Bob and sam sorry to be a paqin but uploading images (jpg) is not going well for me - and it probably is me :?

I want to upload 3 fotos for leo of the Bernal. I click upload, browse, select, open and the upload runs for a while, the green bar shuffles to the right, and then I get an ie error saying perhaps the site is undermaintenance.

The fotos are jpg and under 3 Mb in size. Is the size the issue?

I hunted FAQ but could find nothing further.

I guess I'll make just as much of a muck up when it comes to the mp3 s so any hints there?

Any help greatly appreciated.

ps. Sam prepare those ears for the Farruca :D

Nigel, I never had problems uploading photos. A hint on the mp3's is depending on length to convert them at 128 to hold the size down to under 15 MB I think. Are you uploading from a photo program or you computer documents? Let me try one here... click upload attachment, then browse, then select one form your document photo program, click to upload then it should show. You can hit submit to put at the bottom or inline to go with text.

Just tried very large photo 2.96 MB and it went. Make a post in the luthier section and try the photo's there. If they don't work email them to me and leave your post and I will add them to it.

Nigel, I just tried a 3.13 MB photo and it went but was slow. I have a 10MB cable speed. I usually size photos down to 400 on height and length adjust by ratio depending on photo. Photo at 400 height is still nice large size for forum.

My ear are ready for the Farruca. Are you playing it on both guitars for demo? The secret to mp3's is staying under 15 kb and keeping quality good. On my Alegrias it converted it at 196. My recorder records in wav and has a conversion program for mp3's with lots of options. I found going below 128 can effect the sound. 196 is my favorite and keeps a 3 minute song in the under 15 kb.

Nigel, I just put a few photos of my Dominguez in the luthier section. I uploaded them full size and it took a few seconds, but they uploaded fine and this program must resize them to fit. Bob has been recovering from surgery and can't sit at the computer much and Doog is taking lessons in classical guitar at age 77 and practicing hard, so you are stuck with my limited computer skills. I will help anyway I can. Let me know if the mp3 posting is a problem.

To get a good coverage of our items, we often turn the camera in various angles to snap a shot. Do not upload such weirdly angled pictures and leave your buyers scratching their heads guessing the head and tail of your picture. Take a few seconds and post the image after flipping it to the correct angle.
