Thanh, Your welcome and I appreciate you sharing these as with my not being able to go, at least I can see what I missed. Is there any more you want posted? I saw a nice one of Robert Ruck and Julia Banzi, but wasn't sure if it was OK to use it.

Bob, Did you get to play on the Ruck? Also did you see the Juniper steel string by Les McMasters?

Did anyone catch Ricardo playing the Tsiorba?

Thanks to Thanh for the photos. I would have liked to see and hear the Reyes.

Julia Banzi was playing Peter Tsiorba's blanca when I went to his booth toward the end of the Saturday session. We talked a few minutes about arranging a concert here on the Coast.

Yes, I played the Les McMasters' steel string. I hadn't played a steel string guitar since the early 1960's when I sold Gibson's and Martin's that would be worth a small fortune now if I had kept them. I hadn't had much interest in steel string guitars since that time until I played Les McMasters juniper on Saturday. You were right. What a guitar! I couldn't believe it. Steel strings are rough on nails and mine wouldn't stand the wear and tear very long, but I played a little alegrías that sounded better than I thought possible on a steel string guitar.

Yes, I have photos and Smartphone audio recordings of Ricardo Cardenas playing Peter's classical negra. I also have some other recorded performances. However, I will need to look through a bunch of files to find them.

Peter finished the flamenco guitar he had at the exhibit only a few hours before the show opened. The strings had only been on a short time and had only been approximately tuned. The exhibit hall was so noisy with people talking and trying instruments that guitar-tuning was almost impossible, so I offered to take the guitar into an adjoining room and tune it. The room I went to also was noisy, but not as noisy as the exhibit hall. I played this bit while there to learn what guitar sounds like.

I forgot to answer this in a previous post. No, I didn't play the all cypress Ruck experimental guitar.

Saturday afternoon Ricardo Cardenas played three selections in the Wiegand Performance Hall on this Peter Tsiorba Indian Rosewood classical guitar:

I recorded Peter's introduction and Ricardo's playing on my Smartphone. However, the audio quality isn't very good, because I was so far away from the guitar. It generally is not possible to make good audio recordings at this distance in most environments even with professional recording equipment, because reverberations between room surfaces are strong compared to the strengths of sounds directly from the source.

That smartphone does an amazing job. I could hear all the fine qualities of that guitar. I would say that is a phenomenal classical and would hold its own with the best. The Tsiorba sounded well balanced and very responsive with beautiful sweet trebles and deep clear basses. Did you hear the Elliot classical played?
