Cejillas Excelente hecha por Tony

Postby SamC » 04 Mar 2011, 20:54

Today I received two cejillas. One was one Tony made 3 years ago and the cord had worn thin and broke from frequent use. He repaired it NO CHARGE and even put a new leather on the bottom and refitted the peg. The other was a new one that cost a mere $40. Also pictured is my first one from Tony. All handmade! I love the use of the cord rather than fish line and leather, not only for appearance, but easier to use. Awesome cejillas that are perfect to use with my fine handmade flamenco guitars. I recommend these cejillas as the real deal for any player that appreciates the work of a wonderful craftsman and artist. I cannot believe that Tony will repair any cejilla he makes that has problems, no charge, even after years of hard use as his prices are already very low. Truly an old world craftsman in every way.

The light colored cord appears to be all nylon and similar to a cord used on blinds. Notice it is heavier weave. Maybe 1/8 inch dia. The black ones appear like a nylon polyester blend, a bit smaller dia. than the others. I think the black one that broke was from a sharp edge that it pulled across. Remedied that with a little fine rasp.

These cejillas are so beautiful but I find then difficult for some chord positions.
It would be good if someone could invent a traditional cejilla which allowa the hand over it like the typical Jim Dunlol metal and rubber.

I got one of Tony's lower profile models a few years ago, to allow more room for the hand, but it's still not as low profile as the Dunlop.
