Flamenco Master Application?

Postby bugeyed » 28 Aug 2009, 00:07

Anyone using this software? I have it installed, but it won't run well. The audio gets corrupted after the first pass & is unusable. Just wondering if it's worth my time to try & get it working. BTW I am a beginner & would enjoy the accompaniment to make my solo practice & playing time more enjoyable & productive. Any insight will be appreciated. Or if someone can recommend an alternative to Flamenco Master that isn't too expensive.
Thanks,
kev

Flamenco Master runs fine here under Windows XP. Which operating system are you using?

you can try weird metronome
http://download.cnet.com/Weird-Metronom ... 73673.html

or the tabla metronome
http://download.cnet.com/Weird-Metronom ... 73673.html

you dont get the contras like you do with flamenco master but you can still make the basic 12 beat.

Flamenco Master is great. Never had any problems. It runs on Vista for me absolutly fine. More likely your operating system at fault than FM. Do you have any background processes running? That can upset it. Although if that is true it will upset Weird met as well.

Bugeyed you are aware that having asked a question you must now record and upload here your efforts. We are not harsh critics :D :D :D

I use a free clock-style metronome made by one of the fellows at the Falseta.com forum:

Find the program here in the forum thread.
I hope no one minds the link to another foro, but it seems inappropriate to give a direct link to the app as the author deserves credit and the thread is the only source of documentation too.

My only complaint is that it can't save presets for the palos, but it's easy to set up. If you like it and you want some sounds, PM me with your email and I can send you a small zip with extra sounds (palmas, cajon).

BTW:
The person who made weird metronome stopped development. One of the issues with it was that (because it was midi-based, IIRC), the timing would slowly change.

Someone else developed a clone called Open Metronome, and it's an open-sourced project. You'll still need to get the Weird Metronome documentation (Readme & FAQ) as they just assume you know how it works.

They have 3 versions: one is midi, one is wav (should be more accurate) and a pocket pc version (so if you have a windows mobile phone you'll always have a metronome - you can find free tuners too and be ready to go always).

Exitao, Not a problem mentioning falseta.com as Caesar and Payul are great guys and many here also participate there. This metronome might be useful to someone so thanks for posting it. Glad to see you posting here also.

Hi,
(I'm the author of Open Metronome)
Exitao mentioned free tuners: I'm also the author of an Open Source Free Chromatic Guitar Tuner for Windows Mobile and Windows.
I'm sharing the link in case anyone finds it useful, I try to spread the word as much as possible about my open source apps, as it's not like I get paid for them:)
I'm actively supporting both appilcations, but new feature requests take a long time to process (I have too much real-life stuff going on:). E.g., Open Metronome was recently translated into Spanish, but that took months!

Take a look at Beat Vibe as well http://tivstudio.com/node/1

It's an iPhone or iPad app and pretty interesting.
