Re: Pegs, Machine Tuners or Geared Pegs: Pros and Cons

Thank you so much, Peter,

I am going to town today, and will try to find Lava Soap. I haven't seen that soap in supermarkets in a long time. Maybe one of the hardware stores carries it.

Although my guitar is 46 years old, The pegs still hold well, but tuning the first string has always been difficult. It's tight, and I have to hold the guitar between my knees while using two hands to tune. Will Lava help?

Lorette,

Pegs can be tight for different reasons. I cannot say with certainty why your E-peg is tight without seeing the guitar. However, there is no harm done by trying Lava. Pull out the peg, rub just a little bit, put the peg back in and turn it several rotations. If more is needed, repeat the same steps until there is just enough "slip" yet adequate "bite"
