3 soleá en YouTube del guitarra de Quijote

Postby Quijote » 15 Dec 2009, 22:24

Hola,
I just finished editing the videos of the recent Concurso del Cante en la Peña "Soleá de Alcalá". I played for myself and for two members of the Agujetas dynasty. Miguel, el Gitano de Bronce and his brother Eduardo Pastor de los Santos are decended from the sister of Agujetas el Viejo and the brother of the wife of Agujetas el Viejo. This is definitely old-school cante.

Miguel has been singing for 50 years (as have I) and worked during the 70's and 80's in the tablaos of Madrid. He has 21 disks recorded and has toured the US and Japan. His voice is showing the strain, but clears up pretty well when he quits smoking. His brother Eduardo has never before sung on a stage. He was very nervous and really had problems even applying himself to rehearsing - so we didn't do much. But once he got on stage, he did really well.

If you are really interested in my video collection, put "sailingflamenco" in the YouTube search box and you'll get all of them.

Hope you like them.

Richard, Thanks for posting your latest videos here. As I commented on FB, I hear a special quality to Eduardo voice that reminds me of the old singers and hope we hear more from him. I haven't listened to any of the older recording of Miguel, so I cannot comment on any change since his days in the tablaos, but he sounded great on this video. Your accompaniment to both was superb and highly appropriate as usual. Your new Solea video was excellent and I am still amazed at your singing and then your ability to accompany yourself in such an outstanding manner. Thanks again for posting these videos. I hope it encourages some of our younger members to learn old school cante and accompaniment.
