Sam,
Your alegrias sound great! Here is a falseta por alegrias from Paco Pena's "Toque Flamenco". Hope more members will post.

That is very well done. I have listened to Paco Peña's Toque Flamenco a lot over the years and really enjoy it. You are very good at hearing and being able to reproduce subtleties that are important to music sounding like and having the emotional impact that it does.

Bob,
Thank you for the nice compliment. I saw Paco Pena in concert in Europe sometime in the mid eighties. I always found that he has a very elegant style, with his specific rhythmic approach, brilliant execution, and great sense of melody.

I attended a Paco Peña concert here in Utah about a year and a half ago. Unfortunately, he mostly played modern styles that I didn't enjoy much, but he is a fabulous flamenco guitarist. One thing that impressed me was the way in which he focused audience applause toward younger members of his group, rather than to himself. Many entertainers could learn valuable lessons from him.

I agree with Bob's comments about your playing. I would like to be able to play like that.

Thank you very much, Castillo. I am an autodidact who started playing the guitar in his late twenties. Like probably everybody else trying to play flamenco guitar, I also wish my abilities were better, and feel that there is plenty of room (approximately half the Universe) for improvement. For me it's now all about the journey rather than the destination. Since I understand this archive as a conversation in music, I really hope more members who play, sing, or dance (no matter what level) will participate in the future.

To expand on the Alegrias thread, here is a classic falseta in C. It's the only Alegrias falseta in C I know, and I picked it from a Moraito/Jose Merce video just recently. For the remate Moraito chose a fierce and somewhat unusual picado line. 8-)
Saludos
