Fandango Verdiales

Postby SamC » 04 May 2010, 18:14

I was messing around today frustrated that my hands are painful and won't work right for some of the falsetas I am trying to get down, so I decided to try and remember some of the simple stuff I used to play back in the 70's. I learned this one from music notation from a book a friend sent me from Spain about 1971. Never heard it played so I had to depend on music timing and accuracy of such to play it. I got the idea for rhythm and general sound from listening to old LP's of more complicated fandangos. I haven't listened or studied fandangos in recent years, so I will not guarantee the accuracy of my playing. Cejilla on 2nd fret on La Pedro.

Sam,

Your verdiales is very nice. You inspired me to try one of my own; I constructed it in a similar way, but played it more slowly. Since I don't have a score, I made up the melody

What do think, Foro, did it work?

Very nice and I enjoyed the speed and flow of it. Nice traditional sounding melodies. The guitar also has a very nice sound.

Thank you, Gentlemen! In my opinion, a very beautiful folkloric version of Verdiales is the one by "Traina" on youtube:
