i did both methods just as you instructed and each time it worked fine. i played a wmv file. i was able to play thomas's file but not sarkin. do you think maybe it's something about sarkin's file?

Maybe you have a corrupted copy of sarkin's file, because Windows Media Player Version 11 plays his file fine here. I will send you a copy of the file I have via e-mail to find whether you are able to play it.

I just noticed that your test file was a video .wmv file. Did you try the two methods I provided above with an audio .wma file? Maybe you can play video, but not audio files.

I have sent you sarkin's audio file via e-mail.
