Romanza d'Amor on a Walker blanca

Postby davinort » 12 Sep 2010, 21:23

Here's my rendition of the [in]famous "Spanish Ballad", played on my 2009 Johnny Walker blanca. Heckuva nice guitar. 640mm scale, traditional wooden pegs.

Very nicely played on a beautiful guitar, Dave.

I like your rendition of starting with chords, followed by the traditional arpeggios and then ending with tremolos. Plus an into and ending. Different…beautiful…thank you.

Well played and a nice version. Last time I played this was a few years ago and I used Serranos version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sa1os99uVZk that he put to a rumba rhythm with my own ideas. I admire the sanitation of your playing and wish I had the power to play some of the chords without murdering half the notes. Also your tremolo is very smooth and flowing. That Johnny walker is a great sounding guitar. I like the sweetness of the trebles and I was a bit concerned that perhaps the basses were a bit light, but that final note displayed some growl.

Lorette: Thank you for the kind remarks. As I mention in the text to the video, much of "my" version is informed by the Liona Boyd edition of 1977. I interject the Jack Marshall (Chris Parkening) middle section, and the intro is inspired by the Intermezzo of Enrique Granados.

Sam: The Walker guitar can be quite "growly" if desired, I'm simply a not-so-growly type of player. ;)
