Solea de Moron

Postby SamC » 19 Nov 2008, 20:14

Just some fun stuff I was playing around with today. It sounds to me that I got off compas at the :40 second falseta. I was experimenting with a rest at the 3, 6, & 9 count for effect. This falseta was just something I made up. There are 12 falsetas that should be at 6 seconds each. This one ran from :40 to :47 and explains why the clip is 73 seconds instead of 72 ... 12 x 6 = 72. Sorry about all the buzzing and dead notes ... my hands are not what they use to be. I was trying to capture the Moron sound. Feel free to make what ever comment you desire. My goal is to learn to improvise and stay on compas and record it.

I know I promised my long Solea of falsetas from the masters, but it is still suffering badly. I can play the falsetas correct individually, but putting them all together and playing for over 5 minutes really poses some difficulty, especially when recording it.

P.S. The experimental falseta starting at :40 sec and ending (none to soon) at :47 sec is tragic. The more I listen to it the more I realize that even playing it in compas would still be bad due to melody of lack thereof. Phrasing stinks, etc.

Here is a clip with basis strumming to set the compas to compare the improvised falseta for correct timing. Resting on 4 and 7 seems to work according to the timer and my palmas. What is your opinion on the phrasing and pausing for effect. Diego did this a lot and while it sounds simple it isn't, at least not for me. The non played notes are harder to count than the played ones.

sounds great! your compas is good because i can easily count along without getting lost. that guitar sounds very nice too. what is it?

Thanks Leo. I appreciate you listening and checking the compas. Sometimes I have trouble counting falsetas with rested counts. The guitar is a 2004 Andres Dominguez of Sevilla cypress and spruce. It plays and sounds IMO like a Manuel Reyes Sr. and Gerundino Fernandez hybrid. It has some qualities of each.
