Soleares

Postby Lorette » 27 Apr 2010, 16:56

I just listened to and read Manos Lentos post "Farruco No Bueno".

As I read the replies, you all said “feel free to join in regardless of level expertise. So here I go, also apologizing to Juan Serrano for taking liberties with his beautiful Soleares from the same book mentioned on Manos' post.

I am 72 years old and my fingers are not as nimble as they use to be, so I play rather slowly. But I love flamenco music so much, that even playing slowly, I am moved by its profound beauty.

Lorette, I placed your sound clip inline to make it easier to bring up. Your playing of the piece was great and your rasqueados and tremolo were smooth, something my nerve damaged hands cannot do anymore smoothly. About 5 years ago I had all the pieces in his book memorized. I still play his Sevillanas in Em now and then. Your guitar sounds great and very old time flamenco. I hear the most important thing in your playing and that is feeling for the palo. Serranos stuff is great and I also like Martins El Arte books. Well done and thanks for posting.

You are right that flamenco can be profoundly beautiful even played slowly and your Soleares is beautiful. Thanks for posting it. It is always interesting to hear other members play.

Lovely. I hope I can do that well in just a few years (when I'm 72).

Not so old. My Manuel Velazquez is only 46 years old...younger than some of us here. LOL
