FB, I enjoyed your tango and it sounded and felt right to me. I never really studied the tango or practiced tango compas, just played from listening to the one of DdG and the other I just play improvisational by what feels right. Maybe off for compas.

Sam,
Thank you for the 2 examples. I like particularly the Tanguillo falseta (although I don't know anything about tanguillo compas- or otherwise and its relationship to tangos). The way tangos are played has changed considerably in the last decades. I am quite fond of the syncopated style (with a compas reminiscent of slow rumba) of the seventies and eighties (e.g. Tomatito with Camaron).

Sam,
Thanks also for this example. 8-) However, I like "tango my way" better than 'tangos de Sam", I think it has more aire.
Also, I just listened to Joselero with Diego del Gastor singing a fairly slow tangos (on youtube) you might like. Diego plays a very straight, unsyncopated toque. Finally, regarding tanguillos, I posted 3 youtube videos in the otro sitios section, including a tanguillo de Cadiz by Melchor de Marchena (on youtube).
Un saludo

Thanks for your comments. My latest tangos is more of a modern rumba rhythm with old Bulerias falsetas (scales) rephrased to fit the tangos rhythm. I end it with one of Paco de Amparo's falsetas.

Yes the tangos with Joselero and Diego is one of my favorites, however the one of Diego and Perrate is my all time favorite. You can probably tell my tangos are influenced by the Moron toque. Melchor's version is another all time favorite and I tried to learn parts of it without success. I bought the Melchor book from Faucher but it did match the video or any recording I had. Someday maybe I will pick up bits and pieces of Melchors tanguillo for ideas. I need to learn more of Diegos but it is hard enough keeping up what I have already learned. I find the tangos and tanguillo fun to play.
