Tapas Alegrias flamenco video

Postby SamC » 04 Mar 2009, 18:21

Edited April 2nd >>>> I had problems with my utube account so I deleted it. I was unable to put the video here directly and lost my audio mp3 file somehow, so when I recover from neck surgery, hopefully enough feeling and strength, without severe pain, will come back and I can play a 2 1/2 minute Alegrias I have put together. Now on days I can play the guitar with arms supported it is only for less than 5 minutes before the pain gets intense and severe numbness sets in my left side. Surgery will probably be in early May.

sam, that was great! i got to hear a nice relaxing alegrias and learned how to make a new dish. i don't know about the oysters though. i guess i wont really know if i like it or not until i try it. can i replace it with artichokes or something?
i would love to see more videos like this! i love food and i love flamenco!

oh btw, which guitar is this? i love the crispness that your playing and guitar creates. the recording is good too.

Yes, you can put whatever you want instead of oysters. I sometimes use kippered herring. I would use Serrano ham but the real thing is out of my food budget. Artichoke hearts sound great. Shrimp works great too.

The guitar is the Dominguez with a new set of LaBella 820 reds. I prefer the black trebles but had 7 sets of the reds left so I decided to use them. I may sell the remaining 6. The buzzing is because I lowered the action more around 2.5 mm at 12th fret. My hands don't have much strength left and start seizing up after over 15 minutes of practice, so getting a clean sound isn't going to happen.

Glad you enjoyed the brief video. It was a spontaneous idea after I had recorded this falseta to check it for compas. I got up to fix a lunch tapa and the results were so good I took a photo and set back down to type up my improvisational recipe. I decided to put the recipe on the photo and then I got the idea to make the video since the tapa was inspired by my struggle to get the Alegrias falseta correct and on compas. Glad you can relax in 45 seconds. LOL!

It was brought to my attention I messed up on the compas slightly on the remate before the finish. The E note slid to A should have been count 10 & 11, then either a hesitation or a golpe (Diego did both) for count 12. Then the finish is 10 counts. Even these simple falsetas can be tricky.

Very nice Sam and the falseta was enjoyable as well. A happy little fellow as he should be.

With the recent increase in the value of the Euro against the pound I'm afraid jam is looking more expensive these days. But it is so delicious I can't resist. Two members of my spanish family work in a fabrica de embutidos y jamon so I'm glad to say I don't have to pay too much. Even so I buy more serrano these days than Iberico.

Only problem is each time you walk past the leg of ham mounted on its traditional holder you have to just slice of the thinest shavings and let them melt in your mouth and in no time at all your £100 ham has all gone

But I've still got some nice chorizo in the kitchen. Must stop now I can hear breakfast calling :D

ps. I dislike the red ones as well.
